Fix - viewer stream stutters - auto adjust based on their internet
One of the most common things I’ve heard since joining Mixer in March of 2018 is “the stream is stuttering/lagging ☹”.
Of course when this first started happening, I'd immediately check for dropped frames but see none. I used to stream on Twitch for 2 years without this issue and then made the switch to Mixer in March 2018. The first thing I noticed was nearly 80% telling me "it's impossible to watch your stream smoothly on Mixer."
Examples of this were stuttering video, intense pixelation/greenification of the video, audio cutting out etc. I then tested streams on Twitch or even Re-Streaming to both Mixer and Twitch at the same time for analysis and it became very apparent that the issue existed and still exists solely on Mixer. Yes bitrate has an effect, but even with lower bitrate and on RTMP instead of FTL, it's something that Mixer is doing differently than Twitch and I’m not quite sure what it is.
We need this issue solved; need to find a way for viewers to stop running in to this on so many Mixer streams. I’ve heard it across the board and not only in my channel. I love Mixer and I'm hopeful that someday the Mixer development/Engineering team will be able to figure out the inherent difference between Twitch and Mixer for a smooth viewing experience.
I’ve started educating my viewers on all the default preferences they need to change in their app or on their computer to try and improve their viewing experience (eg. smoothness without interruption) which applies to any channel they watch. I truly believe it's the number 1 obstacle holding Mixer back. I want nothing but the best for the platform, so I hope this can be taken as constructive criticism and seriously so we can all grow.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

I can vouch for this from a viewer perspective. It's still changing quality between 720 and 1080p even tho I'm on a 200/200 mbps connection, causing the stream to fall behind, repeat a couple of seconds and micro stuttering.
I'm casting Mixer from my phone to a Chromecast so I don't get any options to manually adjust quality.
