Skills and season 2 for non partnered streams

So with Season 2 now revealed and the new usage of sparks which only benefit partners, I was thinking about a system for non partnered streamers.

Basically people would use the skills as normal, but instead of a cash payout, non partnered streamers would get a % of the sparks spend from users into their own sparks account.

The reason behind the % instead of the full amount of sparks is because sparks now has a real life $ value.

As I've seen many point out, having sparks set on your Mixplay board or for people in general to use the new skill system in non partnered streams seems like throwing money out of the window since they'd go to no one and not supporting the streamer they choose to use their sparks on.

Bumping this again, particularly now that Embers exist on desktop/mobile... Like most, I agree with Valsis/R4ver in that it would be nice for sparks to be available to all and be recyclable. You have Skills open on non-partnered streams, yet the sparks end up going to waste instead of supporting partnered streamers who have worked hard to get where they are. Earning Partner is not an easy feat for most and the vast majority of partners are very, very proud to be a Mixer Partner. Personally, it looks a bit insulting to see sparks going to non-partners and being wasted (and, no, I'm not a partner myself). Make them worth something, even if it's only by a percentage.

Some have mentioned an Affiliate program and I know Mixer has briefly spoken on this in the past (or at least Mixer reps have). Perhaps this is something to consider in the future but, for now, let's focus on the Partners we have that have a small audience. Mixer Partner requirements are low, yet still hard enough to reach as it's a growing platform. Let's all work on growing the platform together first, then talk about an Affiliate program later.

As for Embers, these should certainly remain as a partners-only perk. Anyone arguing against this is just being greedy.

I like the idea of getting sparks for skill usage. But I don't think there should be any monetization outside of being a partner. We don't need an affiliate program.

I agree with this and with comments below... As to the comments below, perhaps an affiliate program could be looked at for smaller streamers to gain some traction to reach partner level. What benefits they would get as opposed to partners I am not sure of. Mixer could look at the metrics and probably figure the best answer for that.

Also, I would like to throw in the idea of allowing partnered streamers to receive a portion of their Sparks into their own Sparks total. I see many partners telling viewers "Save your sparks!" because they feel like they won't reach the next milestone in time and those sparks would be wasted. Some of them may wish to receive whatever Sparks they do receive above the reached milestone in Sparks and them not go to waste.

I agree with this comment in ways but not wholeheartedly being a non partnered streamer myself yet ticking the boxes for the new partner requirements... However not being able to get that last big push to get partner, I feel adding an affiliate program could be a great step for mixer but to do it they would have to be very careful adding it as being partnered now doesn't grant a huge amount of benefits (except the clear things... E.G Subs, spark goals etc) To do it right they need to add a couple of other features first so that the achievement of becoming a partner isn't made obsolete. I think a good thing idea for an affiliate program could be the original partner requirements with a few twists (700 followers but now with 5 average viewers, 2 months (at least) Channel age and over 100 hours streamed) Getting. I feel the opportunity for smaller channels to have custom emotes is a huge thing yet only gives a small amount of the partner benefits away.

As much as i love this idea being a non partnered streamer the only way this would really work is if the partners gain an extra way to get income such as adds or that partner sparks gain more money etc. As it is a huge partner benefit. Linking in with this I feel there should be an affiliate system so e.g To get affiliate you need 500 follows 5 average viewers and 100 hours streamed etc. This would then unlock a lot of partner benefits just with the exclusion of the Mixer pro and some other kind of partner gains as in free sub each month.

Hey Mixer staff /outers I have an idea maybe do a mini partnership for 500+ followed streamers where we can make a small benefit from the sparks donations like (sparkaship) in place of the Verified placement

A little note to this feedback after I've seen the spark wallets gone down for everyone, partners as non partners. Instead of solely be for non-partners only, I feel partners should be included in this as well to make everything go around. I have a feeling that the use of sparks will come to a halt since the only way to gain sparks is by watching, so we might see periods where skills and sparks used for sound boards will be very minimal or non at all, ofc depending on people sparks costs on board.

This Is GREAT. I didn't like read fully before posting my Sparks idea, so I decided to link that idea to this one. I really HOPE this goes through... *Crosses claws*

I was going to come suggest the same thing, but I see you already have. Thanks for saving me some typing work ;)

I agree with this 100%, but tend to agree with Valsis, as well. Keep Embers for partners, but allow non-partners to get sparks into their balance so the sparks don't just DISAPPEAR. They stick with the non-partners account so they can 'forward' the sparks to partners so that way their $$$ value sticks.

  • BVR commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

I like the idea of a % of sparks getting recycled into the non-partner's channel bank so that they can go towards other things.

One thing people need to realize is these "Payouts" will not always continue to be this big. Right now people have been sitting on sparks with no real reason to use them. Many sitting well over 1 million. These people right now are able to push these milestones but in the coming weeks it will probably be just a few dollars here or there because people need to grow their balances again.

    These are great ideas!
With Mixer 2, Sparks lose their value for non-partnered streamers.
Giving them some value to non-partnered streams is definitely needed.
    - Converting them to another "Mixer currency"
    -- like Sparks
-- having them be 'extra credit' for streamers applying for partnership
    -- and so on..

  • Valsis commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

I support this with some added feedback on the matter.

While currently the Sparks and Skills are used for "Cash rewards" for partners only, once Embers get released in 2019 my hopes fall under the following points:

    - Sparks + Skills - available for all streamers so everyone can benefit from them. Everyone earns sparks so, why not allow everyone to benefit from them?

    - Embers - Available for Partners only. Since this system involves real money being donated (Mixer's version of Bits), it makes sense this feature to be available only for the official representatives of the platform/company.

  • R4ver commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

I would like to add that I'm a full supporter of only partnered streamers to get a cash payout since they in the first place represents Mixer. But I hope this idea will get some thoughts flowing on how to allow non partnered streamers to benefit from the new system as well.
