Mixer's placement and perception in the industry
I'm not entirely sure where or who to pass this feedback to, so I am posting it here.
The biggest convention of the year in New Zealand is happening later this month, Armageddon (https://www.armageddonexpo.com/). I've been proactively reaching out to people and companies to introduce myself and tee up talk time.
During the course of the conversations these are the kinds of comments and questions that have been tabled to me...
"Mixer, so you only stream on Xbox?"
"So if you're on Mixer you're only playing Fortnite?"
"Do you stream or restream anywhere else being a PC player on Mixer?"
"Do you stick to HypeZone titles or do you play other games?"
Even as a hobbyist PC variety streamer, it's really hard not to feel disenchanted when encountering those kinds of comments.
Mixer, does marketing/PR have anything in the pipeline to combat the perception that the platform is viewed as an Xbox/Fortnite/Hypezone content destination?
As a content creator on Mixer is it my role to address and correct the perception the industry has of Mixer?
or is this something the marketing, business development, sales, influencer relationship teams, etc. should be doing?
Is it really a sense of entitlement to ask a platform how to the plan to address a perception of their platform in the industry?
If the plan they have is the same as yours, let the content creators sort it, then there a bigger problems abound...
...which is probably why some prominent partners are heading toward other platforms.
You can’t educate people yourself and have to rely on the platform to do everything for you? What a sense of entitlement.
