Deleting Inactive Accounts
Hello Fellow Mixer Streamers,
Mixer or "Beam" has been around for a while now and after the time there becomes a bulk of unused channels on the platform. Most of these being created when the platform was first announced and then forgotten about. Others created to spam chat rooms and to enter giveaways that a streamer may have done. As a Mixer streamer it's annoying to look through my following count and see that most of my followers are inactive. There are streamers on Mixer with 100K followers but only 200+ viewers. A vast majority of those followers are either spam accounts or inactive. (The channel was either created for an extra chance in a giveaway, others created for spamming channels etc..) It’s very frustrating to be on the Mixer platform, searching for another streamer and getting lost in all the “blueberry” inactive accounts that take up so many pages.
I am proposing that the Mixer Team does a cleaning sweep on the platform. Send out a notice letting everyone know that they have a certain amount of time to log into their Mixer channels or their channel will be deleted. This will not only clean up the excessive amount of unused accounts but it will also help the streamers see accurate numbers on their channel(s)
I have reached out to other streamers getting their feedback and they all agree with this proposal. If you agree, please like, share, and give your feedback! Together we can improve Mixer!
The inactive accounts bolster registered user numbers - making the platform look more popular. Lots of social sites have this issue. Facebook likely has millions of dormant accounts or spam accounts.
Maybe a rule that all accounts that have 12 months inactivity are disabled and then deleted 6 months later.
From what the support team has said I don’t think they plan on doing anything about inactive usernames
This would be fantastic! Please Mixer respond and give us a answer.
