Allow Streams That Are Featured For 5 Min or Less To Be Featured Again Within The Week
Hey Mixer Fam!
I love the new "Featured" algorithm that allows more variety of streamers to be featured on the front page of Mixer.
My understanding of the new algorithm is that it limits the number of times you can be featured per week to one (1).
I'd like to suggest a modification to this algorithm. Here is the scenario:
Billy is streaming, doing his thing, when he starts to notice new names in his chat - a lot of new names. Then one of them says:
"FRONT PAGE HYPU!"
This is Billy's first time being featured! He's really excited! So excited that he jumps up and accidentally trips over the power cord and his computer shuts down.
Sorry, Billy, that was your one Feature time for the week. Gotta wait for next week!
There are any number of reasons that a stream could go down:
- Power Failure
- ISP/Internet Drop
- Choosing to Sign off because you have work in the morning :P
- Your cat chewing on the ethernet cable
- Your baby playing jump rope with the computer power cable
The list goes on. What I'm suggesting is that, for those times when streamers are featured for 5 minutes or less, allow them to potentially be featured again within the week.
Assuming that the new algorithm flags featured streams somehow so that they don't get featured again for a week, I think that Mixer should only flag a stream if they've been Featured for about 5 or 10 minutes. This would mean that, if I'm signing off for the night and get featured as I'm signing off, I wouldn't have "wasted" my one Front Page time for the week. Or if I get featured and my pet squirrel gets frisky with my Stream Deck and accidentally hits the "Stop Stream" button, I won't have to reprimand my Frank (my Squirrel) for ruining my Front Page time for the week.
Let's do this for Frank!
