Logs for mods and caster.
So with all the new activity, and with mods having their work cut out for them, I've decided on a couple features I'd love to see with Beam to make our lives as mods just the tiniest bit easier and more convenient. One thing I'd like to see from Beam is some sort of Mod Log, preferably one that pops out like chat and can be linked with multiple chats at once. It should just be some sort of window that shows who's been punished, in which chat, by which moderator, for how long, and why. Another feature that would compliment this greatly would be the ability to give a reason for someone's timeout/ban, by doing something like: /timeout LoliCheeks 24h "Smells kind of funny."
An example of these two put together could be if a moderator went and timed someone out by doing '/timeout LoliCheeks 1h "Said I was only 9/10"', a message could come up in the Mod Log letting other mods and the caster know by saying something like "[Caster'sName] LoliCheeks was timed out by [Moderator]. Reason: "Said I was only 9/10". It shouldn't be all that huge of an implementation for the website, but it would honestly make a massive difference for casters and moderators who want to be able to coordinate with other moderators, and have some proper info on what's really happening in chat.
- Add a popout Mod Log for moderators and casters.
- Let the log sync with other chats.
- Let mods give a reason why people were timed out/banned.
I know a new update will be coming out soon to Beam, that will be centered towards moderators and making their jobs better, but I just thought I'd share my idea on something I'd honestly love to see over everything else for mods. <3
Bumping this thread. As much as Mixer has grown and we now regularly see 200, 300, 500 or more concurrent viewers on a regular basis, modding has become quite the amount of work. Being able to view a log of the actions taken would be VERY helpful for the streamer and other mods to review. As streamers are trying to build their communities, if they have mods that aren't doing things the way they'd like them to be done, a "mod log" would be nice to look though to maybe kind of see which mods might be a little too aggressive or not aggressive enough, etc. Would love an update to know if this feature is still in the works.

I know this has been somewhat addressed as planned via http://feedback.mixer.com/forums/382521-lazers-and-shiny-things/suggestions/15563976-list-of-banned-users
But, that being said, I think it would be best to begin with adding this as an API feature to log user, action taken and the message, There are obviously API overhead/latency issues with this being site-wide in addition to potential DB implications as a wide number of actions would result in loads being written to the DB. Also, a list of disciplined users on the UI is only somewhat helpful. Without context, there is not a lot of back up enforcement of upholding discipline taken against a user by a channel team.
While a persistent log/DB/API would be great, potentially beginning with events firing off, but not stored long-term (maybe only for that stream) to be caught by a bot and logged to a text file or into a Discord log channel would be wonderful for streamers to have evidence when users protest action taken against them.
I agree 100% this is something WE as a community need!
This is what we need.
This is something all streamers and mods could use. It allows us to keep records of why things occur in the stream, and also allows us to see when a mod is acting up and banning/silencing for childish reasons, not that our mods act up.
YES, all streamers will need this, **** I seen other low tier stream sites have this.. Still baffled we DONT.. I already had a mod issue where I had to report it and be told.. nothing they can do since no proof what mod was doing it... I WANT THIS NOW PLZ!!! Save me stress and ****, thnx!
Yeah, maybe a mod only chat or something? I mean I guess we have discord for that. Big streamers have big needs.
As a moderator this mod log is very helpful to see why someone was ban or timed out etc. after they come back and ask why. I moderate for some on both Bema and YT and he can get 200+ viewers.
Idea for prototyping. Re use notification bell as a boilerplate for mod logs? I'd love this, a lot <3
The mod log is a great idea!
